Sleeper's
Engine Swap Operation
The
motor in the Sleeper
had server well for the past 20 years of all kinds
of fun driving. During the last summer, the engine
started showing signs of wearing out. And after the
brand new CF DF II clutch started to vibrate, we knew
it was a case of bad rear main seal. We took the engine
out, noticed the bellhousing was covered in oil from
the inside and so was the cluctch and the assembly.
The
engine was bust too, piston rings in all cylinders
had seen better days, head casket was blown. We just
wanted to get this back on the road ASAP and we weren't
prepared to wait the whole summer for new parts to
arrive. Luckily a friend of mine happened to have
a just rebuilt 350ci 4-bolt complete engine just waiting
to be put in action. We made a deal and it took three
days to complete the engine swap with new clutch and
now the car is back on the road!
Here's
some pics from day 1. More pics to
