C3
Corvette's were all equipped with 4-piston Calipers and 11" Rotors all around. These brakes offer
very good overall braking performance for such
an old car. However the cast iron calipers create
lot of unsprung weight are know to start fading
on road course style racing. |

Building
better brakes is not only just replacing rotors
and calipers. I have replaced the brake lines
with new Stainless Steel lines and the brake hoses
with Goodridge
Stainless Steel braided hoses. These will out
last the rest of the cars life, so it's definitely
good idea to take under consideration when doing
a brake rebuild. |

| I'm
running quite radical street engine and this usually
provides very little vacuum for the brake booster,
so to feel safe pushing the brake pedal, I've replaced
the vacuum brake booster with belt driven hydraboost
unit. This also gave me all the extra valve cover
clearance needed. |

| I finally made up my mind and got myself some new brakes. I actually bought everything from PBC, it took quite some time to get these made. I ordered set of 2-piece slotted and cross drilled 13" rotors all around. I went with forget billet 4-piston Dynalites at the back and forget 6-piston Superlites in front. |

| I have to say that the first impression was good, but after I started the installation it all went down hill from there. I had to modify the rear rotors, front hat bolts, washers and bolts were missing from the kit and the spacers included in the kit were all wrong. Thanks to a good friend of mine and his machine shop connection we were able to have everything modified. Now that it's all there I have to say the brakes are just awesome. I've done some hard driving after letting the brakes settle in and they have worked flawlessly ever since! |
